Occupational Therapy Assistant

Marie Portfolio joined Play Pals as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in April 2021. She
graduated from South University with a degree of Associates of Science in Occupational Therapy
Assistance in 2016 and brings with her over 6 years of experience in private pediatric therapy practice.
Marie previously worked for Interplay therapy and Thera-peds in Deerfield beach FL where she gained
experience treating children with Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder,
Learning Disabilities, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Developmental Delay, hypertonicity and
hypotonicity.
Marie was initially inspired to pursue an education that helps treat children on the spectrum as
she has two cousins with Autism. Witnessing first-hand the role that therapy played in better enriching
her cousins' lives made a large impact on her journey for higher education in AD studies.
Marie has taken classes and is trained in sensory processing and Play therapy. In addition to
working with the pediatric population, Marie enjoys spending time with her family and friends and in
her free time enjoys adventures to the parks, beaches and attending local events. Marie values the
importance of a family-centered approach and providing a fun environment for students to grow and
learn in.
